NASCAR Playoff Season: The Vintage Racing Patches Behind Our Trucker Hats
Share
Every September, the garage talk changes. It's playoff season in NASCAR, and around here that means one thing: more racing hats leaving the workshop than any other time of year.
Our True Vintage collection is built around real, sourced patches — not reproductions, not licensed reprints, but patches that actually came off old racing merchandise, jackets, and team gear from collectors across the country. Every one of them tells a piece of a driver's or a track's actual history, and once we've used it, that specific patch is gone for good.
The Drivers and Tracks Behind the Patches
A few of the True Vintage NASCAR pieces currently sitting in our workshop:
- Dale Earnhardt — the Intimidator himself, arguably the most iconic name in the sport's history, on a true vintage rope patch.
- Daytona International Speedway — a true vintage patch from the most storied superspeedway in racing.
- 1995 NASCAR Winston Talladega 500 — a race-dated patch straight off old Talladega merchandise.
- 1998 NASCAR Exide Richmond 400 — another race-dated find, this one from Richmond.
- NASCAR 50th Anniversary — a patch marking the sport's golden anniversary, set on an Otto foam front rope build.
These aren't hats we can restock once they're gone. When the patch is used, that particular piece of history moves on to whoever's wearing it.
Why True Vintage Beats Reprints
Anyone can print a driver's number on a blank hat. What we do with our True Vintage line is different: we build relationships with collectors, buy real patches that already have decades of history stitched into them, and set them on quality construction — Richardson, Yupoong, or Otto foam front rope, depending on the piece — by hand in our Perkinston, Mississippi workshop. The result is a hat that's actually one of one — not one of ten thousand. (We also carry a broader Racing Heritage lineup of retro-style embroidered patches for drivers and eras not represented in the True Vintage finds — same craftsmanship, just not sourced from original vintage material.)
Wear It to the Watch Party
Whether you're heading to the track, hosting a playoff watch party, or just want something with real racing pedigree for the garage, a true vintage patch hat carries more weight than anything off a big-box shelf. Built for tailgates, race days, and anyone who still remembers when a paint scheme meant something.
FAQ
Are these officially licensed NASCAR products? No — these are true vintage patches sourced from collectors, set on our own hat construction. They're tributes built from real historical materials, not officially licensed merchandise.
Will you restock a specific driver or track patch once it sells out? Almost never. Each true vintage patch is a one-of-a-kind find, and once it's gone, that exact piece is gone for good.
What hat construction do these come on? True Vintage racing patches are set on a mix of builds depending on the piece — Richardson 112 rope trucker, Yupoong 6006 5-panel snapback, and Otto foam front rope are all in the current lineup.
