Why Leatherette Koozies Are Having a Moment
Share
Everyone owns a koozie. Almost nobody owns one worth keeping. That's the gap our leatherette koozies exist to fill — and it's why they've quietly become one of the most requested items in our catalog without us doing much to promote them.
The Problem With Neoprene
The stretchy neoprene koozie is the default because it's cheap and it works. But it's also disposable in every sense — the printed graphic fades and cracks within a season, it stretches out of shape, and it looks exactly like the free one you got at a work event. Nobody keeps a neoprene koozie on purpose. They just accumulate.
What Leatherette Actually Changes
Leatherette is a different material entirely, and it behaves differently because of it. Instead of a printed graphic sitting on top of stretchy foam, our designs are laser-engraved directly into the leatherette itself — the same process we use on our laser-engraved trucker hat patches. That means real depth and detail instead of a flat print, and it means the design isn't going anywhere. No cracking, no fading from a summer in a cooler.
It also just looks different sitting on a table. A leatherette koozie reads as an actual object someone chose, not a giveaway. That distinction matters more than people expect until they're holding one.
Where the Designs Come From
This is where the koozie line gets more interesting than a typical drinkware accessory. We've built designs around sports moments (Bo Jackson's 1986 Topps card, Travis Kelce's rookie card), pop culture tributes (Golden Girls), sports nostalgia (Charlie Hustle), and Gulf Coast culture (Havana Daydreaming). Same approach as our hats — real stories and real references, not generic drinkware clip art.
Standard Can vs. Slim Can
We build both, because not every drink is the same shape. Standard can koozies fit classic 12oz cans — beer, soda, the usual. Slim can koozies are sized for slim 12oz cans and most hard seltzers, which have become common enough that a standard koozie just doesn't fit anymore. Check which size you need before ordering; they're not interchangeable.
Care
Same rule as our hats: leatherette doesn't love excess moisture. Wipe it down after use rather than letting it soak, and keep it out of direct sun and high heat for long-term storage. Treated right, a leatherette koozie holds its engraving and shape far longer than the neoprene version ever could.

FAQ
What's the difference between standard can and slim can koozies?
Standard fits classic 12oz cans. Slim fits slim 12oz cans and most hard seltzers. Check the product listing before ordering.
Will the design fade or peel over time?
No — the design is laser-engraved into the leatherette itself, not printed on top, so it won't crack or fade the way a printed neoprene koozie does.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
No — wipe it down by hand and avoid soaking it, same care approach as our hats.
